Anna Podgorska DVM

Anna Worth Street Veterinary
Ever since I can remember, my dream was to be a veterinarian and run my own animal shelter. I was the child who would rescue injured birds and nurse them back to health. While I did detour from this path briefly by working in the field of environmental sciences and sustainable development for a few years, I eventually made my way back to veterinary medicine and can genuinely say it is my true calling.

Forming long-lasting bonds with pets and their caretakers is the most fulfilling aspect of my career. There is nothing more rewarding than meeting a kitten or puppy for the first time and taking care of them as they grow from youngsters to seniors. I also love a good challenge and enjoy solving complex cases and seeing my patients improve and thrive. My professional interests include feline medicine, surgery, and pain management.

After obtaining my undergraduate degree from Fordham University, I received my master’s degree from Columbia University and my Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University. I completed my veterinary internship at the ASPCA after which I spent several years practicing at a small animal hospital in Brooklyn. I joined Worth Street Veterinary Center as its emphasis on integrative medicine and individualized patient care resonated with me. I also love giving back to the community. Worth Street Vet’s close ties with local no kill animal shelters affords me the opportunity to provide care to animals in need, which I find richly rewarding.

During my time off you can find me training for long distance races, practicing yoga, hiking, climbing mountains, cooking vegan food and traveling. I currently live in NYC with my husband and our two tuxedo cats, Theo and Rain, who are the loves of my life.
